A&N Education Dept Rolls Out Strategic Training for School Heads and Faculty

The State Institute of Education (SIE), Sri Vijaya Puram, has rolled out a 10-day ‘School Leadership Program’ in collaboration with the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi. The initiative, launched on June 2, 2025, aims to upskill Vice Principals and faculty members for effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023.

Running concurrently is a five-day capacity-building program tailored for SIE and DIET faculty. Both programs are being conducted at Shiksha Sadan, the education hub in Sri Vijaya Puram.

The inaugural session was presided over by the Secretary of Education, who stressed the need for creative and leadership-driven school administration. Also present were the Director of Education, senior faculty from NIEPA, and senior officials from the Department of Education.

The workshop delves into leadership development, systemic reforms, and academic planning under the evolving policy landscape. Sessions are designed to provide practical frameworks for school heads to transition from administrative roles to strategic enablers of change.

Education professionals attending the program will also receive hands-on exposure to integrating digital pedagogy and inclusive learning strategies, vital for adapting to both the NEP and the island-specific context of school delivery systems.

The program is expected to feed into longer-term educational reforms across the islands by creating a cadre of leaders capable of driving institutional transformation from within.
