Preparations are underway in North & Middle Andaman for the upcoming Sardar 150 Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra, a district-wide event commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man. A coordination meeting chaired by Shri Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, was held to plan activities and logistics for the celebration.
The meeting brought together officers and officials from various government departments, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, and members of educational institutions. All attendees pledged their cooperation to ensure the smooth and meaningful execution of the commemorative programmes.
The main event, Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra, is scheduled for November 7, and will see participation from around 500 representatives drawn from government offices, colleges, schools, and panchayats. The Padyatra will begin at Danapur Junction and culminate at the Mini Stadium, Mayabunder, where a concluding ceremony will be held to mark the spirit of unity and national integration championed by Sardar Patel.
In the run-up to the main event, a series of pre-event activities have been planned across the district from November 1 to 6. These include quiz competitions, lecture presentations, health camps, and cleanliness drives led by various departments and educational institutions. The activities aim to engage citizens of all age groups and promote awareness of Sardar Patel’s contributions to national unity and the creation of a united India.
Deputy Commissioner Sushant Padha emphasized the importance of collective participation in honouring Sardar Patel’s legacy and encouraged inter-departmental coordination to ensure the success of the district’s celebration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives from all participating agencies reaffirmed their commitment to making the Sardar@150 Rashtriya Ekta Padyatra a memorable and inclusive tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s enduring vision of a united and strong India.
