Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 Launched at Car Nicobar to Achieve Priority Development Goals

The Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 under the Aspirational Block Programme was officially launched at Car Nicobar Block in a function held at Perka Community Hall on 09 February. The initiative, set to continue until April 14, aims to achieve full saturation of priority development indicators identified by NITI Aayog through coordinated departmental efforts and measurable grassroots outcomes.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kale, IAS, inaugurated the programme, briefing officials and attendees on the six key development indicators targeted under the initiative. These include enhanced coverage of supplementary nutrition for children and pregnant women, proper growth monitoring of children in Anganwadi Centres, functional toilets and safe drinking water facilities in Anganwadis under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), provision of adequate girls’ toilets in schools, and vaccination of bovine animals against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

Kale emphasized that all concerned departments must take prompt and coordinated action to achieve 100% saturation of the indicators within the stipulated timeframe. The programme represents a concerted effort to improve service delivery, foster inter-departmental convergence, and deliver measurable improvements in priority development areas at the local level.

During the event, the Deputy Commissioner toured stalls and camps set up by various departments, including ICDS, Veterinary, Agriculture, Health, and the Block Development Office. He reviewed activities on display, engaged with officials and beneficiaries, and discussed local issues with departmental heads in the presence of Village Captains. Necessary instructions were issued to ensure prompt redressal of the issues highlighted during interactions.

The Health Department conducted health camps offering screenings for diabetes, blood pressure, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and tuberculosis. The ICDS Department showcased nutritious food items provided at Anganwadi Centres, demonstrating efforts to strengthen child nutrition services. The Agriculture Department displayed e-KYC services, seeds, and saplings to promote agricultural development, while products created by Self Help Groups (SHGs) were made available for display and sale, highlighting local entrepreneurship initiatives.

The launch function began with a welcome address by the Block Development Officer of Car Nicobar, setting the stage for the district-level implementation of the initiative. Officials emphasized that Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 is a strategic, time-bound programme intended to ensure comprehensive coverage of critical development indicators and strengthen overall service delivery in the block.

By combining health, nutrition, sanitation, education, and veterinary interventions under a single coordinated framework, the Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 seeks to create tangible improvements in the quality of life for residents of Car Nicobar. The programme underscores the government’s continued commitment to achieving sustainable, measurable development outcomes through integrated departmental action.
