The entrance examination for admission to Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) for the January 2026 term will be conducted at Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Sri Vijaya Puram, on December 7, according to information received from the college authorities in Dehradun.
The examination will follow a single-day schedule with three papers, covering Mathematics, General Knowledge and English. As per the notified timetable, the Mathematics paper will be held from 9.30 am to 11 am, followed by the General Knowledge paper from 12 noon to 1 pm. The English paper will be conducted in the afternoon session from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
Candidates who have applied and are eligible to appear for the examination have been directed to report to the Principal of Tagore Government College of Education at 8.30 am on the day of the examination. The early reporting time is intended to facilitate verification, seating arrangements and other procedural formalities ahead of the commencement of the first paper.
No separate intimation letters will be issued to candidates for this examination, making it essential for applicants to take note of the published schedule and venue details. Authorities have advised candidates to make necessary travel and logistical arrangements well in advance, particularly those travelling from different parts of the islands.
RIMC is a premier residential institution that prepares students for entry into the National Defence Academy and other defence services. Admission is highly competitive, with candidates from across the country appearing for the entrance examination each year. For candidates from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the conduct of the examination locally reduces the need for travel to the mainland at the initial screening stage.
The examination process is designed to assess academic proficiency, general awareness and language skills at the middle-school level. Performance in the written examination plays a crucial role in determining eligibility for subsequent stages of selection, which typically include interviews and medical examinations conducted by the college authorities.
Tagore Government College of Education has been designated as the examination centre for the islands, reflecting its capacity to host state and national-level examinations. The venue has previously been used for competitive tests and academic assessments, with arrangements in place to manage candidate flow and examination protocols.
Candidates have been advised to comply strictly with the reporting time and examination guidelines, as late entry or non-adherence to instructions could impact their ability to appear for the test. With no individual call letters being issued, clarity on the schedule assumes added importance for applicants.
The conduct of the RIMC entrance examination in Sri Vijaya Puram forms part of broader efforts to ensure access to national-level educational opportunities for students from the islands. By facilitating local examination centres, authorities aim to reduce logistical barriers while maintaining the integrity and uniformity of the selection process.
With the examination date approaching, candidates and parents are expected to focus on final preparations and ensure all required documentation is in order. The December 7 test will determine which candidates from the islands progress further in the highly selective admission process for the January 2026 term.
