Prothrapur Block Organizes Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan Program on Health, Wellness

The C.D. Block Prothrapur organized a program on October 3 under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), a centrally sponsored scheme of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, aimed at promoting health, well-being, and disease prevention in Gram Panchayats. The program placed a special emphasis on mental and physical health awareness among rural communities.

Block officials, Panchayat Secretaries, Panchayat Health and Sanitation Committee members, Anganwadi workers, and members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) participated in the event.

The program was inaugurated by the Block Development Officer of CD Block Prothrapur, who highlighted the importance of health and well-being in rural communities with the collective support of the Health Department, Social Welfare Department, and local Health and Sanitation Committees of the Gram Panchayats.

A comprehensive technical session was conducted by a domain expert from the Directorate of Rural Development, RRI & ULBD, focusing on Theme 2 of the LSD goals. The session emphasized the role of Gram Panchayats in ensuring proper waste management, sanitation facilities, and cleanliness in public spaces to promote disease prevention.

Resource persons from the Health Department elaborated on the significance of maintaining a healthy, disease-free life and explained the role of Health and Wellness Centres in achieving community health objectives. A session on schemes related to health, nutrition, and well-being implemented by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) for women and children in Gram Panchayats was conducted by the District Coordinator from Social Welfare.

The program also included a live yoga session conducted by a doctor from AYUSH Hospital, promoting both physical and mental well-being among participants.

The event concluded with the celebration of Poshan Maah, featuring a cooking competition among SHG members formed under the NRLM scheme. The activity aimed to raise awareness about nutrition and the importance of a balanced diet, reinforcing the program’s overall focus on community health and well-being.

The initiative under RGSA reflects a multi-departmental effort to strengthen health awareness, sanitation, and nutritional practices in rural areas of Prothrapur, supporting the broader goal of building healthy, sustainable, and empowered Gram Panchayats.
