Revenue department warns against illegal dumping of debris and soil

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 14: The Revenue Department of South Andaman has issued a stern warning to offenders involved in the illegal dumping of construction debris and soil, stating that such actions will invite swift and serious consequences.

The caution comes in the wake of a recent crackdown on unauthorized dumping in Garacharma village, where the violators were charged with a hefty fine. Officials emphasized that these acts not only violate land regulations but also threaten the environment and public infrastructure. The department reiterated that all movement and disposal of earth materials must have prior approval and comply with the Land Revenue and Land Reforms Regulations (LR & LRR).

“Dumping construction debris or soil without permission is a punishable offense. We are closely monitoring such violations and will take swift action against offenders,” a Revenue official stated. In a statement, the Revenue Department called upon residents to report any suspicious land modification or dumping activity. The administration has assured strict confidentiality for all informants. Complaints can be directed to the District Control Room at 03192-240127, 238881, 1070 or via WhatsApp at 9531888844. The department has also cautioned contractors and landowners to verify all permissions before undertaking any earthmoving work. Failure to comply could result in fines, equipment seizure, and legal prosecution.
