Tree Falls on House in Prem Nagar After Heavy Rains, Prompt Response Restores Normalcy

Sri Vijayapuram, June 18: A massive tree came crashing down on a residential house in Ward No. 7, Prem Nagar, early Tuesday morning following intense overnight rainfall, blocking a key footpath and damaging power lines in the vicinity.

Though no injuries were reported, the incident caused significant disruption to daily movement in the area and raised fresh concerns over infrastructure safety during the ongoing monsoon.

The tree, uprooted by softened soil and strong winds, obstructed pedestrian access and snapped nearby electric connections, adding to the inconvenience of residents already bracing against the seasonal downpour.

Emergency response teams from the Fire Brigade, Electricity Department, and the Sri Vijayapuram Municipal Council were quick to arrive on the scene. In a coordinated effort, they cleared the fallen tree, restored electricity, and reopened the footpath within hours.

Residents expressed appreciation for the swift action. Social worker R.K. Raj from Ward No. 7 commended the departments involved, lauding their dedication and efficient handling of the situation.

As heavy rains continue across the region, civic officials have urged residents to report vulnerable trees and unstable infrastructure to prevent similar incidents. The municipal council has also reiterated its commitment to monitoring high-risk zones more proactively during the monsoon season.
