Singh, Yasir Arafat, Bijoy Sarkar, and Susen Das. Women officers Reena Rani Roy, Sujata Das, and Sagarika Roy also joined the raid.

Police confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and investigations are underway to trace the wider supply chain and identify others involved. This operation marks the latest in a string of crackdowns targeting the narcotics trade in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Over the past few years, authorities have carried out multiple seizures of ganja and other substances, often smuggled in through maritime routes. Officials say the remoteness of the islands and their proximity to international waters make them vulnerable to traffickers attempting to push contraband into the mainland.

Law enforcement agencies have repeatedly emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent local youth from falling prey to drug abuse. Campaigns under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan have been running across the islands, and police have stepped up both awareness drives and raids to dismantle supply networks. In their statement on the Diglipur raid, police said such operations reflect their “firm commitment to a drug-free society and to safeguarding the well-being of the younger generation.”
