Police Crack Down on Illicit Liquor in Campbell Bay: 88 Liters of Lahan Seized and Destroyed

Campbell Bay police carried out a special excise raid and jungle search operation on April 1 and 2, targeting illicit liquor production in Gandhi Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, and the areas near Laxman Beach.  In statement issued on wednesday night , the police said that an  operation, led by Sub-Inspector Vinit Kumar Maurya, resulted in the seizure and destruction of 88 liters of Lahan (fermented wash) used for illicit distillation.

The raid was conducted with a dedicated team comprising officers from Police Station Campbell Bay and Outpost Gandhi Nagar. The police claimed that their coordinated efforts ensured the swift dismantling of illegal brewing activities. The seized Lahan was destroyed on-site, with photographic evidence recorded.

Following the operation, three cases were registered under Regulation III of 1876 against those arrested.

The search operation was carried out under the supervision of SDPO Campbell Bay, Aditya Kumar with overall guidance from SP (D) Nicobar,  Rahul L. Nair, IPS. Authorities have urged the public to report any crime or illegal activity to the police at 112, 03192-265242, or 9531856291, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.

This successful raid reflects the continued efforts of Campbell Bay police in maintaining law and order while tackling illicit liquor operations in the region.
