South Andaman Launches PMAY-G Land Demarcation Drive Across Ferrargunj Villages

Administration rolls out phased schedule across villages to ensure clear land possession for beneficiaries and speed up rural housing construction

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), April 10: The District Administration of South Andaman has initiated a phased land demarcation exercise in Ferrargunj tehsil for beneficiaries allotted land under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), aiming to ensure undisputed possession and accelerate housing construction.

Officials stated that the exercise will be carried out as per a scheduled timeline across multiple villages, with the objective of facilitating timely implementation of the rural housing scheme. The initiative seeks to address issues related to land identification and boundary clarity, enabling beneficiaries to proceed with the construction of their dwelling units without delays.

According to the notified schedule, demarcation began on April 9 in Shore Point, Bambooflat-I and Wimberlygunj. The process will continue on April 10 in Bindraban and Ferrargunj, followed by April 11 in Wimberlygunj, Kanyapuram, Tushnabad and Namunaghar. On April 13, teams will cover Mannarghat, Shoal Bay, Tushnabad and Mithakhari, while the final phase on April 15 is scheduled for Guptapara.

The administration has directed all eligible beneficiaries to remain present at their respective land parcels on the designated dates. Beneficiaries have been asked to carry their allotment documents along with valid identity proof to facilitate verification and ensure smooth execution of the demarcation process.

Officials emphasized that the exercise forms a critical step in ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of PMAY-G, a flagship rural housing programme aimed at providing pucca houses to eligible households. By establishing clear land boundaries, the administration intends to remove potential disputes and streamline the delivery of benefits.

The move is part of broader efforts by the South Andaman administration to strengthen last-mile delivery of welfare schemes. Authorities noted that coordinated participation from beneficiaries and stakeholders is essential for the success of the exercise.

The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all eligible households receive the intended benefits under PMAY-G without procedural delays. It also urged beneficiaries to cooperate fully with field teams to enable timely completion of the demarcation drive.

The phased rollout across Ferrargunj reflects an effort to systematically address land-related challenges and improve efficiency in housing scheme implementation, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas of the islands.
