PM Modi Leads International Yoga Day 2025 Celebrations from RK Beach, Visakhapatnam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in commemorating the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) from the coastal city of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, this morning, marking a grand celebration under this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
The national-level event took place at RK Beach between 6:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., spotlighting yoga’s role in connecting personal well-being with planetary health. The Prime Minister was joined by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health Prataprao Jadhav, and other dignitaries.

Organised as part of the nationwide ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative, the celebration witnessed mass yoga demonstrations at over 10 lakh locations across the country. In Andhra Pradesh alone, the state government mobilised an estimated 2 crore participants across more than 1 lakh sites, aiming to set a Guinness World Record for the largest synchronised yoga session. More than 50 lakh yoga participation certificates were also distributed to registered attendees.

A day ahead of the main event, on June 20, approximately 25,000 tribal children gathered at Andhra University to perform 108 Surya Namaskars in 108 minutes, showcasing strong grassroots involvement and the increasing cultural integration of yoga in tribal regions.

Beyond Visakhapatnam, events were held in cities across India. In Delhi, yoga sessions were conducted at 109 locations, with a flagship event at the Red Fort organised by the Brahma Kumaris in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, and the Archaeological Survey of India.

In Rajasthan, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat led celebrations at the historic Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, blending wellness with heritage.

In the lead-up to the event, Prime Minister Modi penned a letter to Gram Pradhans across the country, highlighting the transformative power of yoga and its growing global appeal.

With millions uniting in breath, movement, and mindfulness, the 2025 International Yoga Day reaffirmed India’s leadership in fostering global health, harmony, and sustainable living.
