A missing minor girl from Pahargaon was safely traced and rescued from West Bengal following a coordinated inter-state operation carried out by the local police, highlighting the role of technical surveillance and inter-agency coordination in addressing cases involving minors.
The case dates back to November 20, 2025, when a complaint regarding the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl was lodged at Police Station Pahargaon. Based on the complaint, a kidnapping case was registered and an intensive search operation was initiated without delay. Investigators immediately began analysing available inputs, including digital and cellular data, to establish the minor’s movements after she went missing.
Using technical analysis and mobile tracking, police were able to trace the real-time movement of the girl beyond the islands, eventually leading investigators to West Bengal. Continuous monitoring of location data and sustained follow-up helped narrow down her whereabouts to the Goalpokhar–Panjipara area in Uttar Dinajpur district. The operation required seamless sharing of information with local authorities to ensure accuracy and timely action.
Based on the precise location details provided by Pahargaon Police, Panjipara Police in West Bengal carried out the rescue operation on November 24, 2025. The minor was safely traced and rescued from the identified area, bringing an end to days of uncertainty surrounding her whereabouts.
Following standard child protection protocols, the rescued girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee in Uttar Dinajpur. She was subsequently placed in a girls’ shelter home to ensure her safety, care and protection while further formalities were completed. Officials indicated that this step was taken to safeguard the minor’s interests and well-being during the interim period.
To facilitate her safe return to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a police team from Pahargaon was deputed to West Bengal on November 26, 2025. The team comprised the investigating officer along with accompanying personnel, tasked with ensuring that the repatriation was conducted in a secure and lawful manner.
After completion of all required procedures and coordination with the concerned authorities, the minor was safely brought back to the islands on November 30, 2025. Upon arrival at Sri Vijaya Puram, she was produced before the Child Welfare Committee, which will oversee further steps in accordance with child welfare regulations.
Police officials stated that the rescue operation was carried out through coordinated efforts at multiple levels, combining technical inputs, ground-level verification and inter-state cooperation. The case underlined the importance of swift response in missing person cases, particularly when minors are involved, where timely action can be crucial.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of the Station House Officer of Police Station Pahargaon, with guidance from supervisory officers at the subdivision and district levels. Senior officials monitored the progress of the case to ensure that all procedures were followed and that coordination with the West Bengal Police remained smooth throughout the operation.
Authorities reiterated that police stations across the islands continue to prioritise cases related to missing minors, using technology and coordination with other states to trace and rescue vulnerable individuals. The successful conclusion of the case marked a significant outcome for the investigating team and reinforced the role of multi-agency cooperation in ensuring child safety.
