Online Chopper Booking Begins for Hut Bay Sector

Sri Vijaya Puram: In a major push for digital governance, the South Andaman District Administration has rolled out an online booking platform for helicopter services between Sri Vijaya Puram and Hut Bay, easing a long-standing inconvenience for local passengers.

Earlier, travelers were required to manually submit their applications along with documents at either the Deputy Commissioner’s office in South Andaman or the Tehsil office in Little Andaman. The process involved multiple visits, waiting periods, and significant effort to track application statuses and finalized passenger lists.

With the launch of the new digital portal (accessible at https://sites.google.com/view/dcsvp), all these hassles are now a thing of the past. Applicants can now submit requests and check lists online through a user-friendly interface or scan the QR code available through official communication channels.

The initiative was formally launched by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, who emphasized the in-house development of the platform without any external funding or financial cost.

“This digital transition not only enhances efficiency but also strengthens transparency and citizen convenience,” Chamadia said at the launch. “It reflects our administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for better public service delivery.”

Officials confirmed that the portal is part of a broader goal to transition all citizen-facing services into digital mode, thereby reducing delays, increasing accessibility, and minimizing human errors and corruption.

The ADM further stated that this platform will be continually upgraded based on user feedback. Citizens have welcomed the initiative as a much-needed solution to logistical difficulties, especially those traveling for medical, educational, or official purposes.

With the successful rollout of this service, other transport sectors across the Union Territory may soon follow suit in adopting digital solutions for smoother citizen experiences.
