Business Partner, Students Booked In Niyamat Murder; Two Suspects Absconding, Three In Custody

Police uncover planned killing of businessman Niyamat; one accused still absconding

A shocking case of premeditated murder involving a businessman from Andaman has come to light, with investigators uncovering a plot that was allegedly hatched by his own business partner alongside three students from the islands studying in mainland India. The victim, Niyamat, was allegedly lured and killed in Chennai before his body was disposed of in a waterbody in Odisha.

According to sources, the prime accused has been identified as Mustaqim Niyaz Ahamed, an associate and business partner of the deceased, who remains absconding. He was allegedly aided by four others, including three students from Andaman. Of these, Mohammed Aayan and Mohammed Sufian are currently in custody, while the third student is still on the run. In total, five individuals have been linked to the case, with two absconding and three under detention.

Sources revealed that the crime was not impulsive but carefully planned to avoid detection. The accused allegedly left their primary mobile phones at their respective residences to prevent their digital footprints from coming under police scrutiny. In addition, they procured new phones and SIM cards specifically to carry out the crime without attracting suspicion.

On the day of the incident, the main accused, Mustaqim, reportedly contacted Niyamat soon after he landed in Chennai. Police said he had been tracking the victim’s movements closely. The group later met Niyamat and allegedly persuaded him to consume alcohol. Once under the influence, Niyamat was killed. His body was then placed in the trunk of a car, which the accused drove across state lines to Odisha. There, in an attempt to conceal the crime, they allegedly disposed of the body in a waterbody.

Throughout the initial stages of the investigation, the accused reportedly denied any involvement or association with the case. Their attempt to mask digital evidence and conceal tracks made the investigation challenging for law enforcement. However, police pieced together the sequence of events through corroborative leads, technical surveillance, and interrogation, leading to the arrest of two of the suspects.

Authorities have described the case as a complex example of criminal planning, given the efforts made by the accused to remain undetected. By avoiding the use of their regular phones, relying on fresh SIM cards, and disposing of the body far from the crime scene, they sought to create multiple layers of distance between themselves and the murder.

Local police have said that the arrests so far mark a significant breakthrough in a case that initially appeared to lack clear direction due to the absence of digital trails. The case has also sparked concern about the involvement of young students in a serious crime and the extent of planning behind the murder.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are working to establish the full chain of events and the precise roles played by each of the accused. The murder of Niyamat, with its cross-state links and intricate planning, continues to be under probe, with further revelations expected as questioning of the arrested individuals proceeds.
