The Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Nicobar District, in collaboration with SAI STC, Car Nicobar, held a grand felicitation programme on February 12 to recognise the exceptional achievements of Nicobar cyclists who have represented the district at national and international championships.
The ceremony celebrated young athletes who have brought accolades to Car Nicobar by winning gold, silver, and bronze medals, highlighting the district’s growing prominence on India’s sporting map. Their dedication, discipline, and performance were widely commended during the event.
Deputy Commissioner Amit Kale, IAS, served as the chief guest and personally felicitated the medal winners with appreciation certificates and cash awards. In his address, he urged the youth to continue striving for excellence in sports and assured sustained administrative support for the development of athletic talent in Nicobar.
The programme drew participation from the Secretary of the Tribal Council, village captains, heads of departments and offices under Car Nicobar, sports officials, coaches, parents, and community members. Their presence underscored strong local backing for nurturing sports talent and fostering a culture of athletic achievement.
Officials highlighted that the recognition serves as motivation for young athletes to pursue competitive sports while also inspiring the wider youth community in Nicobar to engage actively in sporting activities. The felicitation reinforced the administration’s commitment to promoting both grassroots and competitive sports across the district.
The event concluded with a call to the youth of Nicobar to maintain focus on discipline, rigorous training, and ambition to achieve further laurels for the district and the nation. The acknowledgement of these cyclists aims to build a robust ecosystem for sports development in Car Nicobar, encouraging both participation and excellence in diverse athletic disciplines.
This initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Nicobar District administration and SAI STC to recognise and incentivise talent, while strengthening pathways for athletes to advance to higher levels of competition, nationally and internationally.
