Nancowrie Farmers Receive Free Seeds

Nancowry, May 19:
To encourage vegetable cultivation among tribal farmers in the Nancowrie zone, the Department of Agriculture, A&N Administration, has distributed 200 free seed mini kits and 200 fork shovels across Kamorta, Katchal, Teresa, and Chowra.

The initiative, led under the guidance of Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agriculture), is aimed at increasing self-sufficiency in food and enabling commercial farming.

Each seed kit included Bhindi, Brinjal, Chilli, Coriander, Tomato, and Yard Long Bean. The distribution event was presided over by the Assistant Commissioner of Nancowrie.

Further, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) organized training sessions and demonstrations, including one at the farm of  Aslam Majid, Captain, Kamorta.  M.K. Arshad and  Ujval Lall, both Agriculture Assistants, educated farmers on the Package of Practices (PoP) for effective kitchen gardening.

Over 30 farmers attended the awareness session at Katchal, showcasing a growing interest in diversified agriculture in the region.
