Small enterprises eye spotlight as IITF 2025 opens doors in Delhi

The Office of Development Commissioner for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has announced opportunities for micro and small enterprises to participate in the upcoming India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, scheduled from November 14 to 27 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Applications opened on September 1 and will close on September 20. The initiative aims to provide small enterprises a chance to showcase products to both national and international buyers under the Procurement and Marketing Support (PMS) Scheme.

This year, the MSME Pavilion will highlight the theme “Vibrant MSMEs, Vikshit Bharat,” aligning with the government’s vision of strengthening the role of small businesses in India’s development story. A dedicated pavilion is being curated to feature selected enterprises, offering them visibility at one of the largest trade platforms in the country.

Eligibility is limited to enterprises that hold valid Udyam Registration as of August 31, 2025. Only those fulfilling the criteria will be considered for stall allotment. Officials emphasized that applying online does not guarantee participation, as final allotment will be based on selection norms. Participants must bear stall charges post-allotment, while expenses such as travel and freight will not be reimbursed under the PMS Scheme.

The Ministry of MSME clarified that the presence of proprietors at the fair is mandatory, underscoring the importance of direct engagement with buyers and potential collaborators. Unlike previous years, no reimbursement claims will be entertained for expenses, marking a shift toward ensuring self-reliance and accountability among participants.

The IITF has historically served as a launchpad for small businesses to reach larger markets. With thousands of visitors, including global delegations, trade representatives, and domestic buyers, the event is considered one of India’s most influential trade exhibitions. The platform offers an opportunity not only to display goods but also to explore partnerships, marketing networks, and business expansions.

For the 2025 edition, authorities expect high competition for stalls, given the increased awareness of the benefits of participating. The fair is especially relevant for enterprises from remote areas, including island territories, who often face challenges in accessing wider markets. The Ministry’s call aims to extend participation beyond metropolitan regions, encouraging diversity of products on display.

Officials have directed interested enterprises to submit applications only through the official portal at https://my.msme.gov.in. They cautioned against making any advance payments before stall allotment, emphasizing that payments are to be made only after confirmation. This measure aims to prevent fraudulent claims or financial losses to participants.

In addition to direct exposure, selected enterprises stand to benefit from networking opportunities, market trend insights, and knowledge of buyer expectations. The Pavilion’s thematic focus is also expected to showcase innovative solutions and evolving industry practices among small enterprises, giving them a chance to compete on par with larger players.

The IITF remains a significant event for policymakers as well, often used as a platform to highlight achievements in trade and industry. For small businesses, however, its value lies in immediate visibility and the possibility of expanding reach. The 2025 edition may become a crucial opportunity for many enterprises to scale up and contribute to the broader goal of economic growth.
