The Directorate of Social Welfare has announced the results of the recruitment drive for contractual posts under the Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), part of the Mission Vatsalya scheme. The selection list for the positions of Social Worker cum Early Childhood Educator and Ayah has been made available both on the department’s notice board and online through its official website.
The recruitment process was launched through a public notification dated April 26, 2025, inviting eligible candidates to apply for the key support roles under the child-focused scheme. Following a round of interviews held on July 24, 2025, the department has finalized the list of selected candidates based on the interview performance and eligibility criteria.
The Mission Vatsalya scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aimed at protecting and rehabilitating vulnerable children, including those without parental care. Specialized Adoption Agencies play a critical role in this ecosystem by ensuring that children in need are provided care, shelter, and eventually rehabilitated into family-based care through adoption.
The roles filled, Social Worker cum Early Childhood Educator and Ayah, are crucial for the daily functioning of the agency. Social workers handle case documentation, child assessments, and psychosocial support, while the Ayah staff provide daily caregiving and hygiene-related support for children housed in these facilities.
The recruitment has been undertaken on a contract basis, reflecting the scheme’s dynamic staffing model that allows flexibility in addressing specific needs at the local level. The announcement of results now clears the path for induction and deployment of selected personnel to the designated SAA centers under the supervision of the Directorate of Social Welfare.
Candidates who appeared for the interview have been advised to check the “WHAT’S NEW” section of the official departmental website (https://andssw1.and.nic.in/socialwelfare/) or visit the department notice board for the final selection list. No individual communication will be sent out, and all onboarding instructions will be made available via the department’s official platforms.
This latest hiring drive is part of the ongoing administrative efforts to strengthen child protection infrastructure across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Given the sensitive nature of the work, the department had adopted a careful evaluation process to ensure only suitable and committed individuals are selected.
Observers note that contractual recruitments like these help maintain operational flexibility, while also ensuring that essential services in children’s homes and adoption agencies are not disrupted. The selected staff are expected to undergo induction and orientation sessions prior to formal deployment, where they will be briefed on protocols, responsibilities, and child protection guidelines under Mission Vatsalya.
The Directorate has also reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency in the hiring process and urged any applicants with doubts or grievances to contact the department directly for clarifications. Further updates, if any, will be issued through official channels only.
With this recruitment completed, the department is likely to focus next on monitoring the performance and impact of the newly inducted personnel, ensuring that the objectives of the Mission Vatsalya scheme are met through effective ground-level implementation.
