Bambooflat Police Trace Missing Minor Girl Within 48 Hours After Coordinated Operation

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 23: A minor girl reported missing from Chuna Bhatta in South Andaman was traced within 48 hours following a coordinated search operation involving multiple police teams, field verification, and technical tracking.

The case was registered at Police Station Bambooflat on April 17, 2026, after a complaint was lodged regarding the disappearance of the minor from her residence. Given the sensitivity of the case and the vulnerability of the child, an investigation was initiated immediately.

Police formed three separate teams led by Sub-Inspectors under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bambooflat. Each team was assigned specific leads and locations to enable simultaneous inquiry and reduce delays in tracing the missing girl.

Search operations included extensive field enquiries in surrounding areas, verification of relatives and known contacts, and scrutiny of passenger movement. Investigators also relied on technical inputs provided by the technical team of the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, to support tracking efforts.

The minor was located on April 19, 2026, from Nayagaon in the Dudline area, marking the conclusion of a two-day search. Police did not indicate any delay in initiating action following the complaint, with the investigation progressing across multiple lines simultaneously.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector S Kannan, Station House Officer of Police Station Bambooflat, under the command of SDPO Sunil, with overall supervision from Shweta K Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

The case highlights recurring concerns around the vulnerability of minors and the need for timely reporting and coordinated response mechanisms. Authorities have reiterated the importance of public cooperation in such cases, particularly in sharing information that could assist in locating missing persons.

South Andaman Police have urged residents to report any suspicious or illegal activities through emergency response number 112, Police Control Room at 03192-232100, or the SP District South Andaman office at 03192-236641. Officials stated that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.

While the minor has been traced, the incident underlines the continuing risks faced by children and the importance of rapid response systems, community awareness, and coordinated investigation in missing persons cases.
