A 14-year-old minor girl from North and Middle Andaman, reported missing in late November, was successfully traced and rescued from West Bengal following a month-long investigation, police officials said.
According to official information, a complaint regarding the disappearance of the minor, a Class X student, was lodged at Police Station Billiground on November 27, 2025. The girl had been missing since November 25. Preliminary inquiry revealed that she was last seen boarding a night bus towards Sri Vijaya Puram on November 24 and had subsequently travelled to the mainland the following day in the company of an unidentified person.
Based on these findings, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Police Station Billiground, and a special police team was constituted to trace the minor. Investigators initiated a technology-driven probe, relying on the analysis of Call Detail Records (CDR), Subscriber Detail Records (SDR), and scrutiny of flight passenger manifests to track the movement of the girl and the suspect.

Through sustained technical analysis and field-level verification, the accused was identified as a resident of Alaipur in Nadia district’s Chakdaha–Ranaghat area of West Bengal. His location was subsequently traced, following which a police team was dispatched to Kolkata to carry out further action.
The team, comprising Sub-Inspector Abdul Shakeel, Assistant Sub-Inspector Diana, Head Constable Zulfikar Ahmed and Head Constable Indira Devi, coordinated with local police authorities in West Bengal. Acting on confirmed inputs, the team located the minor girl and apprehended the accused from Alaipur.
After completing necessary legal procedures, the police team returned to Sri Vijaya Puram on December 26, 2025, along with the rescued minor and the accused. The girl was handed over to her parents following due legal formalities, officials said.
Police sources stated that the case involved extensive inter-state coordination and relied heavily on digital tracking and passenger data analysis to establish the movement of both the minor and the accused. The investigation focused on reconstructing travel routes and identifying communication patterns to narrow down the suspect’s location.
Officials reiterated that cases involving missing minors are treated with priority and that investigations are carried out using all available technical and legal resources. The matter is being pursued further in accordance with applicable laws.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the general public to share any credible information related to crimes or illegal activities with the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 100, 112, or 03192-273344. Authorities have assured that the identity of informers will be kept confidential and that suitable rewards may be provided for actionable information.
The case highlights the challenges involved in tracing missing persons who travel outside the islands and underscores the role of inter-state coordination and technology-assisted investigation in such matters.
