According to available information, the helicopter had departed from Sri Vijaya Puram at around 8.20 am as part of a scheduled service operating on the Sri Vijaya Puram-Rangat-Mayabunder sector. After a brief halt at Rangat, the helicopter took off for its next destination, Mayabunder. It was during this second leg of the flight that the incident occurred.
