Source NDTV: The wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been postponed after back-to-back health emergencies in both families. The ceremony, which had generated significant public attention, was put on hold after Mandhana’s father was hospitalised in Sangli with heart attack-like symptoms, followed by Muchhal also requiring medical attention.

According to family sources, Muchhal was initially admitted to a hospital in Sangli due to a viral infection and severe acidity. He was later shifted to SVR Hospital in Goregaon, Mumbai, on Tuesday. His health concerns are reported to be linked to continuous travel for concerts and wedding performances, which left him exhausted and stressed.

Muchhal’s sister confirmed that he has been moved to a Mumbai facility for further care. The extent of his current condition has not yet been disclosed. On Monday night, his sister Palak Muchhal posted a statement on Instagram, announcing that the wedding had been temporarily halted due to the health situation in Mandhana’s family, and appealed for privacy for both families.

Mandhana had recently sparked speculation after she deleted all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account. While reports had earlier suggested a late-November wedding, the couple went public with their engagement only last week, sharing a celebratory video in which Mandhana was seen flaunting her ring while dancing with teammates. The pair, who have been in a relationship for nearly six years, made their bond social-media official last year.

Images from the couple’s pre-wedding events had soon begun circulating widely before the sudden health developments brought preparations to a halt.

Meanwhile, a report in Hindustan Times stated that it was Muchhal who made the decision to postpone the wedding after learning of Mandhana’s father’s condition. His mother, Amita, told the publication that her son shared a close bond with Shrinivas Mandhana and was deeply affected by the news of his illness.

She added that the stress of the situation also impacted Muchhal, who broke down repeatedly and later had to be admitted for treatment. Medical tests, including an ECG, returned normal results, but doctors noted elevated stress levels.

As both families focus on recovery, no new date has been announced for the wedding.
