Luxury Vessel MV Wave Rider Sets Sail on Inaugural Voyage to Jolly Buoy Island

Sri Vijay Puram, May 12:
Marking a significant leap in premium marine tourism for the Andaman Islands, the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) celebrated the maiden voyage of the newly launched luxury vessel MV Wave Rider to Jolly Buoy Island on May 11.

Operated by local entrepreneur Mohd. Sajid, the 50-seater vessel offers a high-end alternative to conventional island trips, featuring plush seating, a fully air-conditioned café, and thoughtfully curated onboard and on-island services aimed at elevating the overall visitor experience.

The inaugural trip, attended by several AATO members, took travelers to the eco-sensitive Jolly Buoy Island, famed for its coral reefs, crystal-clear waters, and biodiversity-rich marine life. As a seasonal, no-plastic zone within the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Jolly Buoy remains one of the most exclusive and conservation-driven destinations in the archipelago.

Guests aboard the MV Wave Rider were treated to a gourmet lunch onboard and refreshments at the beach, including tender coconuts, mocktails, and lounge setups with umbrellas for relaxation, in line with the vessel’s all-inclusive luxury approach.

Addressing the gathering, AATO President M. Vinod lauded the initiative by Sajid, calling it a milestone in the islands’ tourism journey. “This is not just a boat ride, it’s a premium, sustainable experience curated for the discerning traveler,” he remarked.

Sajid, meanwhile, highlighted the vessel’s safety features and comfort-driven design. “The MV Wave Rider is a result of our commitment to creating meaningful, eco-conscious travel experiences without compromising on luxury,” he said.

AATO welcomed the addition of the MV Wave Rider to the region’s tourism assets, underscoring its commitment to encouraging responsible yet innovative tourism ventures in the islands.
