A vibrant three-day SHG Mela organized by the DAY-NRLM at Atal Park, Hut Bay, Little Andaman concluded on a successful note, recording sales of around ₹3 lakh. The event brought together Self-Help Group (SHG) members to exhibit handmade goods and promote local entrepreneurship.
The event, spearheaded by the Community Development Block, was inaugurated by S. Parmanathan, Pramukh, Little Andaman, with Tehsildar Ajay Mondal and other local leaders attending as guests of honor. Under the leadership of Belthazer, BDO, the event was meticulously coordinated with support from various Line Departments.
Seventeen stalls showcased a range of products including fresh food, coconut shell crafts, carpets, and handmade bags. Particularly noteworthy was the participation of ST SHG members from Harminder Bay, whose stalls drew steady footfall.
Evening cultural performances enriched the festive atmosphere, while the closing ceremony, graced by Sunil Kumar (IFS), celebrated outstanding participants with awards. Dignitaries from various departments praised the entrepreneurial spirit on display, with Rudra Murthy, Pradhan, and BDO Belthazer lauding the event’s impact on local livelihoods.
