‘Ghungroo’ Piglets And Vanaraja Chicks Distributed To Farmers In Wandoor

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 11: In a boost to rural livelihood initiatives, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services distributed piglets and chicks to farmers in Wandoor Village today. The distribution aims to promote backyard poultry and piggery, recognized as sustainable income sources for rural households.

Farmers received piglets of the prolific ‘Ghungroo’ breed, known for its adaptability and high reproduction rate. Day-old Vanaraja chicks, ideal for dual-purpose poultry farming, were also handed out.

The event was presided over by Adhir Das, Gram Pradhan of Wandoor, alongside Uttam Roy, Up-Pradhan, and Sukhalata Pahar, Panchayat Member. The Gram Pradhan praised the department’s initiative in empowering local farmers through resource support.
