Sri Vijaya Puram, May 5: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands conducted a legal awareness camp at Wandoor village on May 3, focusing on the theme “Suicide – Prevention, Awareness & Legal Implications.” The camp was attended by local residents and aimed at educating the community about mental health, social support mechanisms, and the legal aspects associated with suicide.
The session was led by Sudhir Kumar, Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of DLSA, who emphasized that suicide is preventable and that timely intervention and community awareness can save lives. He highlighted the role of DLSA in providing legal aid and implementing mental health-related welfare schemes.
The event also saw the participation of Subramani, SHO, Humfrygunj Police Station, and Adhir Das, Gram Pradhan, Wandoor, who urged community members to remain vigilant and informed. Other topics relevant to the legal rights and welfare of citizens were also discussed.
