Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 28: Patients in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with gastrointestinal and liver-related ailments will have access to specialist consultation from KIMS Hospital specialist Dr Chalapathi Rao Achanta.
The consultation will cover a range of gastrointestinal complaints, including indigestion, acidity, acid reflux, gas-related problems, loose motions, bleeding and other stomach-related conditions. Dr Achanta said he is also treating patients with liver-related ailments.
According to Dr Achanta, some health conditions observed among patients in the Islands may differ in relation to lifestyle, food habits and other local factors. The consultation will focus on assessing such gastrointestinal and liver-related complaints and advising patients on further treatment where required.
Patients whose conditions require specialised or advanced treatment may be referred to KIMS Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Dr Achanta said serious cases have been taken to the Visakhapatnam facility for further treatment when necessary.

The arrangements also include hospital-to-hospital pickup and drop for patients requiring treatment in Visakhapatnam. The facility is aimed at reducing the difficulties associated with travel to the mainland for medical care.
Patients seeking consultation can obtain the appointment number and contact details and coordinate with Krishna Prasad, General Manager of the hospital, for further assistance.
Dr Achanta also referred to the presence of people from Andhra Pradesh who have settled in the Islands over the years, including those from the Godavari districts and the Visakhapatnam region. He said language familiarity and family connections can make access to treatment more convenient for such patients.
The availability of specialist consultation comes as patients in the Islands continue to require access to care for gastrointestinal and liver-related conditions. For cases requiring further treatment, the arrangements provide for coordination with the Visakhapatnam facility.
Dr Achanta advised people experiencing persistent stomach, liver or related gastrointestinal problems to seek medical consultation. Patients and their family members can approach the consultation service for medical advice and treatment.
The treatment arrangements cover both consultation in the Islands and further care in Visakhapatnam for serious cases where specialised treatment is required.
