A student of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), Abhishek Kumar, was allegedly killed by his father, P. Ajay, an employee of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD), in a violent machete attack at their residence in Seven Hills Colony, Calicut, on February 11, 2026. Police have arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody while a murder investigation proceeds.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident unfolded shortly after Abhishek returned home when a heated argument erupted within the household. The confrontation escalated rapidly, culminating in the father allegedly attacking the son with a sharp weapon. The assault reportedly involved multiple blows, leaving the victim with severe injuries.
Neighbours, alerted by the disturbance, intervened and helped transport the injured student to G.B. Pant Hospital for urgent medical attention. Doctors, however, declared him dead while undergoing treatment, confirming the fatal nature of the injuries sustained during the attack.
Police teams reached the residence soon after receiving information about the incident. Officers secured the scene, initiated legal formalities, and subsequently arrested the accused father in connection with the killing. Investigators have begun reconstructing the sequence of events to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
Forensic personnel also visited the site to collect material evidence that may assist the inquiry. Officials have yet to disclose further details regarding the motive or any additional findings as the investigation remains ongoing.

Initial accounts suggest the episode stemmed from a domestic dispute within the family. However, authorities have not officially confirmed the precise trigger behind the altercation. The case has been registered under murder charges, and police continue to examine all available evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
The family has another son who serves as a police officer and is reportedly out of station at present. Authorities indicated that further developments will follow as the investigation progresses.
