Islanders Youth Front launched with 13 founding members to create common platform for youth in Islands

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 18: Thirteen young leaders, social activists and civic-minded citizens have formed the Islanders Youth Front, a Pan-Andaman and Nicobar youth organisation aimed at creating a common platform for youth participation in social service, civic affairs and community development.

The organisation was formally constituted at a founding assembly held on September 17, where members unanimously resolved to establish a youth platform focused on service, awareness, empowerment and nation-building. The initiative seeks to bring young people from different parts of the Islands together to identify community concerns and engage with them through lawful, democratic and constructive means.

The name Islanders Youth Front (आइलैंडर्स यूथ फ्रंट), proposed by Siddhanth Rai Sharma, was unanimously approved by the founding members. The members said the name represents the shared identity of Islanders and the collective spirit of young people seeking to contribute to their communities.

During the meeting, the members discussed the role of youth in areas including civic awareness, social responsibility, education, employment and personal development. The organisation said it would encourage participation in community activities while focusing on youth unity, leadership, health, sports, skill development and access to opportunities.

The front also plans to raise issues concerning Islanders with relevant authorities and engage with government departments, agencies and other institutions to improve awareness and facilitate access to youth-oriented schemes, programmes and opportunities.

Preservation and promotion of the Islands’ cultural, historical and social heritage will form another area of work. The organisation said it would use awareness programmes, community activities and youth participation to encourage greater understanding of the Islands’ history, identity and heritage.

The founding assembly unanimously appointed Siddhanth Rai Sharma as president, M Vinesh and Richardson AB Nathan as vice-presidents, Ayush Raj as general secretary, Swagatham Das as treasurer and Ritis Ram as media and IT in-charge.

Ram Mayank and Shubham Poddar were appointed additional joint secretaries, while Akansha Deshmukh, E Ankita, Himanshu Kumar, Pavan Adarsh and Partiv Sen were appointed executive members, forming the organisation’s founding Central Body.

Addressing the gathering, president Siddhanth Rai Sharma outlined the organisation’s aims and said it would provide young Islanders a platform to work beyond individual differences by contributing their time, ideas and abilities to society and the Islands.

The founding proceedings concluded with the 13 members formally declaring the organisation constituted and taking a collective pledge to work towards its stated objectives. The gathering ended with members chanting “Vande Mataram.”
