New Delhi, June 14 (IANS): As tensions between Israel and Iran escalate, the Indian Embassy in Israel has issued a renewed safety advisory for Indian nationals residing in the country. The move comes in the wake of intensified military action under Israel’s ‘Operation Rising Lion’ targeting Iranian positions.
In a post on X, the embassy’s official handle (@indemtel) urged Indian citizens to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to safety protocols issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. “All Indian nationals in Israel are advised to remain vigilant and follow the safety protocols… avoid all non-essential travel within the country and stay close to designated safety shelters,” the statement read.
The embassy also provided 24×7 emergency contact numbers (+972 54-7520711, +972 54-3278392) and an email address (cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in) for urgent assistance.
The advisory follows a phone conversation between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Netanyahu briefed Modi on the evolving security situation. PM Modi later posted on X, “I shared India’s concerns and emphasised the need for early restoration of peace and stability in the region.”
According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu has been in contact with several world leaders, including the German Chancellor, the French President, and the Russian and British Prime Ministers, to discuss Israel’s security operations.
“Operation Rising Lion,” officially announced by Netanyahu, is aimed at neutralising what he described as Iran’s “threat of annihilation.” The conflict deepened on Saturday as nearly 100 missiles were fired from Iran in two waves targeting central and northern Israel.
The Israeli military and national emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed extensive damage and at least 41 injuries, including two in critical condition and several others suffering from trauma-related symptoms.
Iranian state media confirmed the missile strikes, calling them part of a renewed offensive in the ongoing hostilities.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed further attacks, stating another barrage had been launched toward Israeli territory, though details on the targets and extent of the damage remain under assessment.
