Tel Aviv, April 6: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Monday stated that it had killed Majid Khatem-Hosseini Khadami, Chairman of the intelligence organisation of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), in an overnight airstrike in Tehran.
In an official statement, the IDF said the Israeli Air Force carried out the operation late Sunday, acting on what it described as precise intelligence inputs provided by its Intelligence Directorate. The strike targeted Khadami in the Iranian capital.
The IDF identified Khadami as a senior commander within the IRGC, citing his extensive military and intelligence background accumulated over several years. It described him as one of the most significant figures within the Revolutionary Guards’ command structure.

According to the statement, Khadami assumed leadership of the IRGC’s intelligence wing following the assassination of Muhammad Khatami in an earlier operation referred to as ‘Am Kalavi’. In his role, he was tasked with gathering and analysing intelligence for Iran’s top leadership, including during an operation named ‘Roar of the Harrier’.
The IDF further alleged that Khadami played a central role in advancing operations targeting Israel and Jewish communities globally. It said he was also involved in efforts aimed at American targets and oversaw surveillance of Iranian civilians as part of measures to suppress internal protests.
The statement asserted that the intelligence gathered under Khadami’s direction contributed to the planning and execution of what it described as terrorist activities. It added that his responsibilities extended to both external operations and domestic monitoring within Iran.
Israel’s defence establishment described the strike as a significant setback to the IRGC’s operational and command capabilities. It said the removal of Khadami would impact the organisation’s ability to coordinate and carry out activities against Israel and other countries.
The announcement follows another claim made by the IDF on Sunday regarding the killing of Mohammad Reza Ashrafi Kahi, who was identified as the head of commerce at the IRGC’s Oil Headquarters in Tehran.

According to the IDF, Ashrafi managed commercial operations linked to the IRGC’s oil infrastructure, with activities reportedly generating billions of dollars annually. It stated that these operations contributed to the development of military capabilities of the IRGC and allied groups, including the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Hamas.
The IDF said Ashrafi’s role included facilitating financial flows that supported military programmes and regional operations tied to these groups.
The developments mark a continuation of Israeli claims of targeted strikes against individuals linked to Iran’s military and intelligence framework. The IDF maintained that such actions are aimed at disrupting networks it accuses of planning and executing operations beyond Iran’s borders.
