ICAR-CIARI Hosts Workshop on e-Governance Tools with Focus on Hindi Language Usage

Sri Vijaya Puram: A one-day workshop on the application and management of e-Office and e-HRMS systems in Hindi was conducted at ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Sri Vijaya Puram, on Tuesday, to promote official language usage in administrative processes.

The event, held at Dr. T.R. Dutta Conference Hall, was chaired by Dr Eaknath Bhanudasrao Chakurkar, Director of ICAR-CIARI. The workshop was organised by the institute’s Hindi Cell and witnessed the participation of around 85 staff members, including scientists, technical, administrative, and supporting personnel.

Alex Praveen Barla, In-Charge of the Hindi Cell, welcomed participants and introduced the objectives of the programme. He underlined the importance of equipping staff with technical know-how on digital platforms such as e-Office and e-HRMS, while ensuring that these are navigated effectively in official language Hindi.

A detailed technical session was conducted by Kanishk Bhukar, Administrative Officer, who delivered a lecture and live demonstration on the usage and management of e-governance tools. His presentation included practical workflows and key performance aspects of digital office management systems in the Hindi interface.

The director, in his address, encouraged all departments within CIARI to adopt Hindi more extensively in their routine documentation and administrative work. He noted that aligning digital workflows with official language usage could enhance both productivity and compliance with Rajbhasha directives.

In the second half of the day, an Awareness Programme by the State Bank of India (SBI) was also organised. A team led by Bidesh Das, Branch Manager of SBI Garacharma, addressed the gathering. The session focused on the Central Government Salary Package (CGSP) and included details on investment options, retirement planning, and cybersecurity precautions for account holders.

The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Teena, T-6, and coordination support was provided throughout by the Hindi Cell under the guidance of the institute director.

Participants described the sessions as informative and timely, especially in view of the government’s growing emphasis on digital transformation in workplace administration. Feedback collected at the end of the session indicated a positive response, with many calling for periodic refresher workshops and system-level support for working professionals to ease into bilingual administrative practices.

The event also served to reinforce ICAR-CIARI’s ongoing efforts to balance technology integration with linguistic inclusivity, reflecting broader shifts in administrative practices across Central Government departments.
