Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 18: Registered beneficiaries of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and their dependents can enrol in free skill-development training in eight construction-related trades, with successful trainees set to receive certificates on completion.
The programme will be conducted in collaboration with Industrial Training Institute under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, following directions issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, New Delhi, under the Model Welfare Scheme for Building and Other Construction Workers and the Action Plan for Strengthening Implementation Machinery.
The training is intended to help registered beneficiaries and their dependents upgrade their existing skills and acquire new skills relevant to construction work. The Board has invited eligible applicants to choose a trade according to their interest while submitting their applications.

The courses cover a range of construction occupations, with training durations varying according to the job role. The Brick Mason course will run for 330 hours, while Mason Concrete training will require 390 hours. Assistant Shuttering Carpenter training has been set at 360 hours and Shuttering Carpenter training at 570 hours.
The programme also includes 330 hours of training for Assistant Scaffolder – System, 390 hours for Assistant Electrician, and 420 hours for Construction Painter & Decorator. Assistant False Ceiling and Drywall Installer training will run for 360 hours.
The Board said the training will be provided without any cost to registered beneficiaries and their dependents. Those who successfully complete their respective training will receive certificates.
Applicants interested in participating have been asked to submit their applications mentioning the trade they wish to pursue. Applications should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, A&N Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Supply Line, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The initiative provides registered construction-worker families an opportunity to pursue structured training across multiple job roles without paying training fees, while certification will follow successful completion of the selected course.
