Health 4U and DHS to Organise Free Specialist Consultation Camps in Sri Vijaya Puram

Residents of select areas in Sri Vijaya Puram will have access to free specialised medical consultation through a series of multi-speciality health camps scheduled later this month and early next month. The camps are being organised as part of a collaborative initiative between Health 4U Multi-Specialty Clinic and the Directorate of Health Services, aimed at extending healthcare services closer to the community.

According to the announcement, the first camp will be conducted on February 26 at the Health and Wellness Centre, Haddo, followed by a second camp on March 5 at the Health and Wellness Centre, Dairy Farm. Both camps will be held between 9.30 am and 2 pm and are intended to serve residents of nearby localities who may otherwise have limited access to specialist consultations.

The health camps will feature medical services provided by Dr. Kunal Rakshit, MBBS, MD (Internal Medicine), who will attend to patients requiring consultation during the programme. The presence of a specialist is expected to benefit individuals seeking evaluation for general medical conditions and related health concerns.

Health officials indicate that such outreach programmes play an important role in early detection and management of health issues, particularly for individuals who may delay hospital visits due to time constraints, financial limitations or accessibility challenges. By offering services free of cost at familiar neighbourhood health facilities, the initiative seeks to encourage timely medical attention.

The collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services is expected to facilitate coordination at the local level, including mobilisation of beneficiaries and smooth conduct of the camps. Health and Wellness Centres, which form the backbone of primary healthcare delivery, are increasingly being used as hubs for such targeted interventions.

Residents have been advised to make use of the opportunity and attend the camps during the stipulated hours. While the announcement does not specify registration requirements, participation is expected to be on a walk-in basis, allowing flexibility for patients to seek consultation without prior appointments.

Multi-speciality health camps have been periodically organised across the islands as part of efforts to strengthen preventive healthcare and reduce the burden on secondary and tertiary hospitals. These camps often serve as an entry point for patients who may require further investigation or referral for advanced treatment.

Officials associated with the initiative emphasise that community participation is crucial for the success of such programmes. By bringing healthcare services closer to residential areas, the camps aim to bridge gaps in access and promote awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups.

The organisers have encouraged all needy patients from nearby areas to avail themselves of the services being offered. The initiative is expected to contribute to improved health outcomes through early consultation and timely medical advice, reinforcing the role of outreach programmes in the public healthcare ecosystem of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
