The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is set to hold the 31st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle on July 13, with more than 6,000 locations nationwide participating. With an estimated 50,000 participants expected to take part, the event aims to reinforce the national message of fitness and active living.
Former WWE champion The Great Khali will lead the Delhi edition of the cycling rally from Major Dhyanchand National Stadium, accompanied by other public figures. The event is being promoted as a major push toward the vision of an “Obesity-Free India,” a campaign theme repeatedly endorsed by the central government.
Launched in December 2024, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has grown into a national movement, reaching 11,000+ locations and involving over 4 lakh citizens across age groups. The initiative is being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, along with the Cycling Federation of India, MY Bharat, and Yogasana Bharat.
The upcoming edition focuses on partnerships with Public Sector Undertakings, with more than 500 cyclists expected to join the rally in New Delhi. Regional activities will be coordinated through Khelo India Centres and SAI Training Centres across states.
Adding a festive dimension to the Gurgaon edition, Raahgiri Foundation will host complementary activities like dance corners, art stations, and traditional street games such as Carrom, Ludo, and Snake & Ladders, converting urban roads into temporary community hubs.
Past editions of the event have been themed around frontline workers, armed forces, and community contributors. The broader goal remains to inspire citizens to make cycling a regular part of their lifestyle, promoting physical well-being and environmental sustainability.
With widespread participation from government institutions, civil society groups, and individual fitness enthusiasts, the Fit India cycling campaign continues to be one of the largest coordinated fitness movements in the country. The upcoming 31st edition is expected to build further momentum for its grassroots engagement.
