The Aberdeen Police have registered a first information report (FIR) against two senior doctors of GB Pant Hospital and ANIIMS following allegations of repeated acts that allegedly endangered the safety and health of two colleagues at their workplace.
The FIR, registered on January 19, names Dr Vyankatesh Timmappa Anchinmane, Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology at ANIIMS, and his spouse Dr Shilpa Vijay Sankhe, a Blood Bank Officer at GB Pant Hospital. The case has been filed under Sections 123 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

According to the complaint filed by Dr Vanesa John T, Associate Professor, and Dr Prabhu Gouda, Assistant Professor, both from the Department of Pathology, an unknown oily or greasy substance was repeatedly found floating in their drinking water and smeared on personal belongings at their workplace, including chairs, cushions and other items. The complainants alleged that the incidents occurred over several weeks and were selective in nature, raising serious concerns about their health and personal safety.
The FIR states that after the complainants installed a surveillance camera at the workplace in early December 2025, footage allegedly showed the accused unlawfully entering the room on multiple occasions and committing the acts in question. The complainants further claimed that similar acts were recorded on more than one day, indicating a pattern of behaviour.
The complaint also refers to prior grievances raised against Dr Anchinmane before the Institutional Grievance Redressal Committee of ANIIMS, alleging humiliation, hostile work environment and misconduct. An earlier grievance committee report, dated January 7, 2025, is cited in the FIR as having noted multiple complaints against him. The FIR further mentions that a civil suit for damages has been filed by Dr Anchinmane against one of the complainants, Dr Vanesa John T, before a Port Blair court.
Police officials confirmed that the FIR was registered after a preliminary enquiry and that an investigation is underway. A sub-inspector has been assigned to probe the matter.
The hospital authorities have not issued an official statement on the allegations so far
