Andaman Final Voter Roll Published; Electorate at 2,58,040 After Revision Drive

The Election Commission of India has published the final electoral roll for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision exercise, bringing the Union Territory’s total electorate to 2,58,040.

Chief Electoral Officer L. Kumar said the revision led to the identification and deletion of a substantial number of ineligible voters, including deceased persons, permanent out-migrants and duplicate entries, resulting in a sanitised electoral database.

The final electorate comprises 1,30,415 male voters, 1,27,622 female voters and three third-gender voters. District-wise distribution places South Andaman at the top with 1,60,988 electors, followed by North and Middle Andaman with 74,475 and Nicobar district with 22,577 voters.

Authorities carried out the revision from October 27, 2025, to February 21, 2026. Officials conducted a 100 per cent physical verification drive to ensure accuracy. Booth Level Officers personally delivered and collected enumeration forms from households as part of the exercise, according to the CEO’s statement.

Official figures show that the electorate stood at 3,10,404 in October last year before enumeration began. The draft roll, released on December 23, 2025, removed 64,014 ineligible names during the initial scrutiny. During the claims and objections window held between December 12, 2025, and January 22, 2026, authorities added 16,919 eligible voters and deleted another 5,269 entries.

The final roll reflects the inclusion of 4,070 first-time voters in the 18–19 age group. It also records 2,255 persons with disabilities and 679 electors aged above 85 years.

Officials stated that the final electoral roll is currently displayed at all polling stations over the weekend and will remain available for public inspection at voter facilitation centres for seven days. This step allows electors to verify details and raise concerns if required.

First-time voters and individuals who sought corrections during the revision process will receive their Elector’s Photo Identity Cards at their residential addresses through Booth Level Officers.

The Commission also clarified that individuals who turned 18 on January 1, 2026, but could not enrol during the revision period, as well as those who will attain eligibility by October 2026, can apply for inclusion through the official portal or the ECINET mobile application.

The completion of the Special Intensive Revision marks the conclusion of a comprehensive verification process aimed at maintaining an updated and accurate electoral roll across the Union Territory.
