Door-To-Door Voter Drive Completes Full Coverage

Date:

The Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls-2025 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has recorded a key milestone, with complete door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms achieved in select parts of Sri Vijaya Puram tehsil in South Andaman district. The exercise, initiated by the Election Commission of India with effect from November 4, aims to ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the electoral rolls while enhancing accuracy and eliminating discrepancies.

As part of the revision process, Booth Level Officers have been tasked with extensive fieldwork involving household visits, distribution of enumeration forms, and collection of completed documents from voters. The objective of the exercise is to verify existing entries, identify new eligible voters, and update records to reflect changes such as migration or correction of personal details. The process is considered critical ahead of future electoral exercises, as it directly impacts voter participation and the integrity of elections.

In Sri Vijaya Puram tehsil, several Booth Level Officers completed the entire enumeration process within their assigned polling parts, covering 100 percent of the targeted households. The completion of distribution and collection within the stipulated timeframe has been cited as a significant contribution to the smooth progress of the revision at the grassroots level. Election officials view such outcomes as essential in maintaining momentum across the district, where the exercise is being carried out simultaneously in multiple locations.

The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer for Sri Vijaya Puram formally acknowledged the performance of the Booth Level Officers who completed the assignment in full. Certificates of Appreciation were issued in recognition of their efforts, highlighting the administrative emphasis on timely and accurate field-level execution. The acknowledgment reflects the reliance of the electoral machinery on frontline functionaries, whose interaction with households determines the quality of data collected during the revision.

The District Administration has underlined that the success of the Special Intensive Revision depends substantially on the diligence of Booth Level Officers, who often work under time constraints and logistical challenges. Their responsibilities include not only form distribution and collection but also guiding citizens on eligibility criteria and clarifying procedural requirements related to voter registration.

Officials associated with the revision exercise have reiterated that the broader goal of SIR-2025 is comprehensive inclusion, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the rolls. At the same time, the process seeks to improve accuracy by identifying duplicate or incorrect entries, thereby strengthening the credibility of the electoral database. The emphasis on door-to-door verification is intended to bridge gaps that may arise from reliance solely on digital or centralised updates.

The Election Commission’s approach in the islands has focused on close monitoring at the local level, with tehsil and district officers reviewing progress reports submitted by field staff. Completion of enumeration in certain polling parts ahead of schedule is expected to ease the administrative burden in the subsequent stages of scrutiny, publication of draft rolls, and claims and objections.

The Administration has indicated that recognition of effective fieldwork will continue as a means of motivating personnel engaged in large-scale exercises like electoral revisions. Such acknowledgment is also seen as reinforcing accountability and encouraging adherence to timelines in future assignments.

As SIR-2025 advances across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, election officials have stressed that sustained cooperation between voters and field staff remains essential. The administration has maintained that accurate and inclusive electoral rolls form the foundation of a robust democratic process, and that systematic field-level efforts remain central to achieving that objective.
