Drone Strike At Fujairah Oil Terminal Controlled, No Casualties Reported

A fire that broke out at a petroleum facility in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone in the United Arab Emirates was brought under control after a drone attack triggered the blaze, authorities confirmed on Monday.

Officials said the incident occurred at the strategically important oil terminal in Fujairah, a key hub for ship refuelling and crude oil exports. Emergency teams from the local civil defence department responded to the site and successfully contained the fire. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

The Fujairah Media Office stated that the latest incident marks the third such attack in the area in recent days. According to officials, the zone had previously been targeted in a drone attack and also experienced a similar fire last Saturday. The incidents have occurred against the backdrop of escalating regional tensions across the Gulf.

Fujairah’s oil industry zone holds strategic significance in global energy logistics. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz, the facility serves as a major export terminal for crude oil and an important refuelling point for international shipping. Its position allows oil shipments to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints for energy trade.

Authorities said civil defence teams moved quickly after the blaze erupted, bringing the situation under control and preventing further damage. Officials urged residents and the public to rely only on verified information released by official sources and avoid circulating rumours about the incident.

Government agencies confirmed that the situation remains under close monitoring and that precautionary measures are in place to maintain public safety and protect critical infrastructure.

The latest attack comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region. Gulf States, including the United Arab Emirates, have been facing waves of missile and drone attacks linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Since the launch of joint US–Israeli military strikes on Iran on February 28, the region has witnessed repeated aerial attacks targeting strategic and security installations. According to official figures, the UAE has intercepted more than 1,500 drones during this period.

Amid the rising tensions, diplomatic engagement among regional leaders has intensified. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud on Monday to discuss the latest regional developments.

According to the Emirates News Agency, both leaders reviewed the impact of the escalating military situation on regional and global security. They stressed the urgent need to halt military escalation and warned that continued hostilities could threaten stability across the wider region.

The two leaders also emphasised the importance of prioritising dialogue and diplomatic engagement to resolve disputes and safeguard regional peace.

The drone attack and the subsequent fire at the Fujairah oil facility underscore the vulnerability of energy infrastructure in the Gulf at a time of growing geopolitical uncertainty. With Fujairah serving as a critical node in global oil supply chains, authorities continue to maintain heightened security and emergency preparedness around key installations.
