Sri Vijapuram, April 8 — In a bid to enhance safety in water-based tourism, the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T), A&N Administration, in collaboration with the National Institute of Watersports, Goa, has released a draft Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for boat snorkeling activities across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The draft SOP, available on www.andamantourism.gov.in and www.mygov.in, outlines key safety protocols, mandatory gear requirements, risk assessments, and both pre-trip and environmental briefings. Stakeholders and the general public are invited to submit feedback by April 30, 2025. The initiative aims to formalize and regulate the growing snorkeling industry, ensuring both tourist safety and environmental preservation.
