As the Andaman and Nicobar Islands prepare to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, leaders and community representatives have extended heartfelt wishes for peace, prosperity, and collective well-being across the archipelago.
Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.), in his festive message, conveyed warm greetings to the residents of the islands, emphasizing that Diwali symbolizes the timeless triumph of truth over falsehood, virtue over vice, and light over darkness. He urged Islanders to uphold righteousness and strengthen unity, harmony, and brotherhood in their communities.
“Let us come together to light the lamps of joy, hope, and goodwill,” his message read, calling upon citizens to collectively strive for greater peace, progress, and prosperity. Admiral Joshi further wished that the festival would bring happiness, good health, and success to every household, while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development across the islands.
Member of Parliament Bishnu Pada Ray also extended his greetings to the people of the Union Territory, wishing happiness, peace, and prosperity to every home. He urged Islanders to celebrate Diwali by spreading joy and harmony, reflecting the spirit of togetherness that defines the archipelago. “Wishing everyone a bright and prosperous Diwali 2025,” his message concluded.
Adding to the chorus of goodwill, Shri M. Vinod, President of the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), along with all its members, extended warm greetings to the people of the islands and the tourism fraternity. “May this Diwali bring prosperity, happiness, and new opportunities for all,” Vinod said, highlighting the festival as a moment to renew collective hope and progress for the local tourism sector. He added that the spirit of light and togetherness should guide the islands toward a brighter and more sustainable future.
This year’s Diwali celebrations hold special significance for the island community, symbolizing not just the victory of light over darkness but also the resilience and optimism that define the spirit of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Across the archipelago, homes, temples, and streets are being decked in vibrant lights, with preparations reflecting both devotion and togetherness.
