Diglipur Hosts Awareness Programme on World Cerebral Palsy Day to Promote Inclusive Education

The Block Project Office, Diglipur, under Inclusive Education, Samagra Shiksha, organized an awareness programme on World Cerebral Palsy Day at Government Primary School, Lamiya Bay, Diglipur. The programme focused on educating parents, teachers, students, and School Management Committee (SMC/SMDC) members about the early identification and intervention of cerebral palsy.

The event aimed to highlight the importance of inclusive education and provide stakeholders with guidance on recognizing early signs and supporting children with cerebral palsy. Emphasis was placed on early intervention as a key factor in improving developmental outcomes and quality of life for affected children.

The programme consisted of three structured sessions led by resource persons from the field of special education. N. Riya Nandan, Physical and Special Resource Teacher (PSRT), Biswajit Das, Special Educator, and Rakhi Kabiraj, Block Resource Person (Children with Special Needs), conducted the sessions. They explained the significance of World Cerebral Palsy Day and covered topics including early detection, therapy options, classroom inclusion, and the roles of families and educators in supporting children with special needs.

Participants engaged actively in discussions and asked questions regarding intervention strategies, classroom adaptation, and community support. Resource persons provided detailed explanations and addressed practical concerns related to daily care, learning methods, and available support mechanisms for children with cerebral palsy.

A total of 32 participants attended the programme, including parents, teachers, and SMC/SMDC members. Their participation reflected a commitment to understanding cerebral palsy and supporting inclusive educational practices.

The initiative highlights the Block Project Office’s dedication to promoting awareness and inclusive practices for children with special needs. Through such programmes, Samagra Shiksha aims to ensure that children with cerebral palsy receive timely intervention, educational support, and opportunities to thrive academically and socially.
