N&M Andaman Police Seize 250g Suspected Ganja in Two Diglipur Operations, Arrest Two

Date:

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 29:  Police in North and Middle Andaman district seized about 250 grams of suspected ganja in two separate operations in Diglipur and arrested two persons under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The operations were carried out by the Diglipur police station as part of the district police’s intensified anti-narcotics drive. Police intercepted the two suspects separately, with one operation taking place at Shyam Nagar and the other near Subashgram in Laxmipur.

In the first operation, police intercepted a suspect at Shyam Nagar and recovered suspected ganja. A separate interception followed near Subashgram, Laxmipur, where another suspect was apprehended with suspected contraband.

Police arrested both accused under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The combined quantity of suspected ganja seized in the two operations was approximately 250 grams.

Further investigation is underway in both cases. Police are examining the source of the seized contraband and seeking to identify other persons who may have been involved in the activity.

The seizures form part of the N&M Andaman District Police’s ongoing anti-narcotics enforcement efforts. The district police has maintained a zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and said intelligence-led operations and legal action would continue across the district.

Police have also urged members of the public to report information concerning drug-related activities. Complaints or information can be conveyed through 100 or 112, or directly to the nearest police station.

The police said the identity of informants would be kept confidential and that suitable rewards would be provided for actionable information.

The two cases have brought separate interceptions in Diglipur under investigation, with authorities focusing on tracing the source of the suspected ganja and establishing whether others were involved in the activity. Further action will follow based on the investigation.
