Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 03: An awareness programme in Diglipur has focused attention on the use of language technology to support the educational and overall development of Children with Special Needs (CwSN), bringing together teachers, families and other stakeholders to understand how a dedicated Language Lab can be used effectively.
The programme, titled ‘Language Lab for Children with Special Needs (CwSN)’, was organised by the Block Project Office (BPO), Diglipur, under Samagra Shiksha at the CRC GSSS Diglipur. It targeted Pre-Primary Teachers, parents and family members, members of School Management Committees and School Management and Development Committees, Anganwadi Workers, caregivers and helpers, besides other stakeholders involved with children requiring special support.
The sessions provided participants with information on the different applications and benefits of the Language Lab. The programme sought to build awareness among those attending about how the facility can be used to address a range of developmental and learning needs among CwSN.

The discussions covered the potential of the Language Lab to support educational requirements, digital learning and recreational activities. Participants were also familiarised with its relevance to language development and leadership-related needs, along with its broader role in supporting the overall development of Children with Special Needs.
The programme placed emphasis on effective utilisation of the facility, enabling participants to understand the ways in which the Language Lab can contribute to learning and development. By bringing together education personnel, families, community-level workers and caregivers, the awareness exercise addressed the need for wider understanding of the available language-learning support for CwSN.
The initiative was conducted as an awareness-generation programme rather than as a standalone training activity, with the sessions focused on familiarising stakeholders with the varied uses and benefits of the Language Lab.
The programme at CRC GSSS Diglipur therefore brought the focus to the role of informed participation by teachers, families and other stakeholders in making effective use of facilities intended to support Children with Special Needs. The sessions provided them with an understanding of the facility’s educational, digital, recreational, language, leadership and wider developmental applications.
