Diglipur, October 12: Diglipur Police seized around 160 grams of suspected ganja during a search operation at Subashgram and arrested four people in a separate theft case in which police recovered a Smart TV, brass utensils, lamps and silver anklets, according to police statements.
The suspected ganja was seized on October 9, 2026, following intelligence about possible drug-related activity. Police also confiscated the bag used to carry the suspected contraband. A case has been registered at Diglipur police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Investigators are examining the case to identify the alleged suppliers and establish the wider supply chain. The seizure comes as the North and Middle Andaman district police say it will continue intelligence-based operations against drug trafficking.
In a separate case, police arrested four accused and recovered the stolen property within 24 hours of registering a theft case on October 9, 2026. The police statement did not disclose the identities of the accused or specify the location of the theft.
The recovered articles included a Smart TV with its box, a brass pot, brass lamps and silver anklets. Police said the investigation led to the identification and arrest of all four accused and the recovery of the items.
The two cases involve separate alleged offences: suspected possession or transportation of a narcotic substance in Subashgram and a theft investigated by Diglipur Police. The available information does not establish any connection between them.
The NDPS case remains under investigation, with police seeking to trace the suspected source of the seized substance. The theft case statement confirms the arrests and recovery but does not provide details of the alleged method of theft or the accused persons’ identities.
The North and Middle Andaman district police has urged residents to report suspected drug-related activity and other illegal acts through emergency numbers 100 or 112, or at the nearest police station. It said it would keep informants’ identities confidential and provide suitable rewards for actionable information.
