DIET Garacharma Launches 30-Day Basic Computer Training for Community

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Garacharma, has initiated a 30-day Basic Computer Training Programme aimed at empowering 40 community members from SMC, SMDC, and PTA groups of CRC Garacharma and CRC School Line. The initiative, conducted under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, seeks to enhance digital literacy, vocational skills, and community engagement.

The programme was inaugurated by Jyothi, CRC Coordinator and Principal of PM SHRI GSSS Garacharma, who highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy as an essential skill in today’s world. She lauded DIET’s efforts to extend technological and academic support beyond teacher training to benefit the wider community.

Aradhana Yadav, Lecturer in Educational Technology at DIET, outlined that the training is designed to equip participants with foundational computer skills required for everyday use. The curriculum includes basic computer operations, an understanding of hardware and software, use of operating systems, typing proficiency, preparation of simple documents, and safe, responsible internet usage.

Structured with a hands-on learning approach, the programme aims to make participants digitally confident and self-reliant. By acquiring these skills, participants will also be able to support their families, particularly school-going children, in digital learning activities.

This training initiative reflects DIET Garacharma’s ongoing commitment to inclusive education, lifelong learning, and community participation. It also aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, promoting vocational education and skill development among community members to foster a digitally empowered society.

The 30-day programme is expected to equip participants with practical and employable digital skills, contributing to broader efforts to enhance community capacity in technology use. DIET officials emphasised that such initiatives will play a crucial role in enabling communities to engage effectively with digital platforms and resources.

Participants expressed optimism about applying the skills learned during the training to improve daily tasks, assist children in schoolwork, and explore new opportunities for digital engagement. The programme underscores a holistic approach to skill-building, combining technical knowledge with practical application to strengthen the community’s overall digital competence.

By integrating technology into community learning and promoting digital confidence, DIET Garacharma aims to create an environment where educational, vocational, and social development can advance hand-in-hand, empowering residents with knowledge and practical skills that are increasingly essential in contemporary life.
