DBRAIT hosts Adamya Techno Sports to promote athletics and campus sports culture

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology organised Adamya Techno Sports 2026 on March 13 at Dollygunj Mini Stadium, bringing together students, faculty members and staff for a full day of athletic competitions aimed at promoting physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship on campus.

The event opened with an inaugural torch ceremony at 6.30 am, marking the beginning of the annual sports meet. The formal opening ceremony followed at 7.30 am, after which the competitions commenced with participation from students representing various departments of the institute.

The programme featured a series of track and field events designed to encourage student participation in athletics and foster competitive spirit within the academic community. The competitions included sprint and middle-distance races such as the 100 metre sprint, 200 metre sprint, 400 metre race and 800 metre race. Relay races in the 4×100 metre format were also conducted for both boys and girls.

Field events formed another major segment of the programme, with participants competing in shot put, discus throw and javelin throw disciplines. The events were organised throughout the day and drew active participation from students across the institute.

The sports meet also included special competitions that involved members of the institute’s teaching and administrative staff. A 100 metre race for male and female staff members attracted enthusiastic participation and received strong support from students who gathered to watch the event.

Additional activities such as a slow bike race for students and a tug of war competition between students and staff added to the competitive atmosphere and engagement among participants. These events were introduced as recreational competitions intended to strengthen interaction between students and faculty members.

The sports meet was attended by Karma Toppo, known for achievements in kayaking and currently serving as a coach with the Sports Authority of India, who participated as the chief guest. Sandhya Kispota, a sportsperson from the islands, attended the event as the guest of honour.

Throughout the day, faculty members and student volunteers coordinated the competitions and managed the event schedule. Organising teams oversaw the conduct of the various races and field events to ensure smooth participation and adherence to the competition format.

Prize distribution ceremonies were conducted during the course of the programme to recognise winners across the different categories of track and field competitions. Participants who secured top positions in the events received awards in acknowledgement of their performance.

The programme concluded with the formal closing of Adamya Techno Sports 2026 after completion of all scheduled competitions. Refreshments and lunch were arranged for participants and members of the organising teams following the closing proceedings.

The organisation of the sports meet received institutional support under the guidance of Principal Sanmukh Kaur, with faculty members and event coordinators contributing to the planning and execution of the programme.

Adamya Techno Sports forms part of the institute’s broader efforts to promote sports participation alongside academic activities, encouraging students to engage in physical exercise and team-based competitions within the campus environment.
