New Delhi, August 27: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has opened a public donation channel for strengthening computer infrastructure at the grassroots, inviting citizens and organisations to contribute desktop computers to verified Gram Panchayats through its DAANVEER initiative. The people-led Computer Crowdsourcing Initiative provides a technology-enabled mechanism through which computers can be donated directly to Panchayats requiring them.
The ministry said on Thursday, August 27, 2026, that DAANVEER seeks to supplement infrastructure support available under government programmes, including the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). The initiative is designed to allow individuals and organisations to support eligible Gram Panchayats through a digital process covering selection, payment, delivery and acknowledgement.
Under the system, citizens can use the Meri Panchayat App to identify Gram Panchayats that have been verified by respective state governments as requiring desktop computers. Donors can select their own Gram Panchayat or any other eligible Panchayat for support.

After selecting the “Donate Computer” option, users are redirected securely to DigiHaat, an ONDC-enabled digital marketplace, without requiring separate registration. The system automatically fills in the selected Panchayat’s delivery address and recipient information, reducing the need for manual entry.
Donors can select standardised computer bundles that meet prescribed technical specifications and complete payment digitally. The platform also enables them to monitor the order through its various stages, including confirmation, dispatch, delivery and acknowledgement.
Once the Gram Panchayat Secretary acknowledges receipt, the donor receives a digitally generated Certificate of Appreciation. The ministry said the process allows the donation journey to remain trackable in real time, providing transparency from order placement through delivery.
The computers can help Gram Panchayats use digital governance platforms for functions including planning, financial management, record-keeping and citizen service delivery. The initiative also provides a channel for people living away from their native villages, including members of the Indian diaspora, philanthropic organisations and CSR partners, to support digital infrastructure in Panchayats.
The ministry said more states are onboarding eligible Gram Panchayats. As of August 27, 2026, 75 donations had already been made through the initiative.
With wider participation, DAANVEER is intended to complement government efforts to strengthen grassroots institutions. The ministry has encouraged citizens, philanthropists, organisations, CSR partners and members of the Indian diaspora to participate in the initiative.
