Following its disappointing performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress has begun a comprehensive organisational overhaul aimed at identifying shortcomings and rebuilding its structure in the state. The party secured only six seats in the elections, with defeats reported across senior leadership ranks, prompting renewed introspection within the organisation.
As part of this exercise, a key meeting of district observers was held on Thursday at the Congress state headquarters, Sadaqat Ashram, under the leadership of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Ram. The meeting focused on formulating a roadmap to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and improve organisational effectiveness ahead of future political engagements.

District observers have been directed to visit districts and blocks across Bihar by January 8 to assess the organisational framework at various levels. They have been tasked with identifying strengths and weaknesses within the party, from the panchayat to the district level, and submitting detailed assessment reports to the state headquarters by January 9.
The discussions underscored the need to reinforce the party structure at the booth level, with emphasis on public outreach, organisational discipline, and consistent engagement with local issues. The meeting also reviewed ongoing organisational work, membership drives, public relations initiatives, and strategies aimed at revitalising district-level units.
Special focus was placed on ensuring continuous communication within the party, improving coordination among workers, and encouraging active participation in organisational programmes. District observers were urged to carry out their responsibilities with coordination and accountability to ensure the effectiveness of the revamp process.
The organisational review comes amid growing internal dissent within the Bihar Congress unit following the election setback. Several leaders have publicly expressed dissatisfaction over the party’s performance, with criticism directed at sections of the state leadership. In response, the party has held multiple review meetings at both state and national levels in an effort to identify corrective measures.
Once again, the Congress is relying on its observer-based assessment mechanism to pinpoint structural weaknesses and chart a course for organisational revival in Bihar.
