Chief Secretary Reviews Development Initiatives in Rangat and Long Island

SRI VIJAYA PURAM, MAY 4: Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, visited Rangat today to review development projects, engage with local stakeholders, and reaffirm the Administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.

During his visit, he convened a comprehensive meeting with members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Heads of Offices (HoOs), alongside senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner (North & Middle Andaman), Secretary (PWD/Shipping), Secretary (IP&T/CA), and other representatives. Local leaders raised key developmental concerns, which the Chief Secretary listened to attentively, assuring necessary redressal through appropriate channels.

Following the meeting, he visited the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Rangat, where he interacted with teachers and students engaged in skill development courses as part of Centrally Sponsored Schemes during the summer vacation.

At the Community Health Centre (CHC), Rangat, he reviewed healthcare services and infrastructure, holding discussions with medical officers and para-medical staff, particularly focusing on biomedical waste management and disposal. He also visited Raman Bagicha Beach at Nimbutala to explore its potential for tourism development, assessing opportunities for infrastructure enhancement.

Later, the Chief Secretary travelled to Long Island, where he laid the foundation for upcoming footpaths and inaugurated newly constructed footpaths developed by the Zilla Parishad, aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and mobility for residents.

The visit underscored the Administration’s proactive approach in addressing regional challenges, strengthening infrastructure, and ensuring development reaches even the remotest corners of the Union Territory.
